Our U15s girls haven’t had much luck with the weather conditions for their championship matches and sure enough the rain fell all day making the playing conditions very challenging in Broadford. 

From the whistle they gave it their all, slipping, sliding and going in for every challenge. Diane Maloney had the task of marking Broadfords No 11 who was their play maker and had a tough battle on her hands but she rose to the occasion. The teams were fairly evenly matched with solid defending from Lucy L , Cara E ,Martha and Micheala as well as Aisling from our U13s squad putting in a brave performance in goal.

Muireann battled it out on the wing feeding some lovely balls up the field where Abbie , Ailbhe and Hannah were constantly on the run looking for passes and fighting for every ball. 

Goals in the first half from Meia and Caoilinn with assists from Caragh H and Emma put us ahead by 4 pts but Broadford came out strong in the second half and scored a goal and a few points from frees so we had to dig in deep . 

Evie arrived for the second half straight from a choir competition in Cork and made an immediate impact dropping ball up to the forwards which Sophie was able to convert. Another goal and a point from Meia with some lovely assists from Lucy T saw us 3 points ahead with 5 mins to go . It was a tense few minutes as Broadford were determined to equalise but the moment of the match has to go to Meia Carroll who put in a solo run at the dying stages when she caught the ball in mid field , ran through 3 defenders, bounced the ball over the next defenders head and caught it on the hurl again and fought her way towards the goal only to be denied a score by heroic goalkeeping ! Even the opposition applauded her effort…. A win for Cratloe 4-01 to 1-07 .
